The Next Steps’ Meeting (NSM) has ensured that the impetus of the first Knowledge Exchange on Child Advocacy Centres in Canada will continue. Twenty five organizations met over two days in April 2013. The collective knowledge, experience and expertise of presenters and participants will contribute to capacity building, consolidation of community of practice and a coordinated response across Canada. The NSM provided a forum to discuss practice, research, protocols and innovative solutions regarding development and sustainability of CACs. Topics addressed at the NSM included: research; the role of the crown in multidisciplinary teams; role of the child and family advocate, understanding the impact of trauma; governance; sustainable funding; cultural competencies; and networking. Presentation summaries, power point presentations and other relevant materials of the NSM are disseminated on the original CAC-CEA.ca KE website, ensuring access to information to all interested organizations and individuals.
